At 3 pm EST, a mock court was held for the drunk driver. The court hearing will be held in the Student Union where a "judge" and "lawyer" will go about trying the drunk driver before they are handcuffed and sent to "jail." The court hearing will be streamed online, through STV, and WXYC. The trial lasted about 20 minutes. The drunk driver was sentenced to 17 years in prison for vehicular manslaughter, though the phrase "capital murder" was thrown into the sentencing.
A memorial service was held at 5pm in the Smith Center, where the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs spoke about the situation, representatives from the hospital, police department, and a family or person who have been impacted by drunk driving/texting while driving. At some point during the service, the students involved in the demonstration appeared on stage. Some were asked to say a few words, while others sat there and reacted in their own way. Like everything else that had gone on the day before, this was broadcasted on STV, STV's website and on WXYC as well. The service lasted a little over 45 minutes and everyone was dismissed. Characters involved in the situation will be able to go back into their lives and deal with the aftermath of everything.
Please note that all characters involved had the chance to watch reactions of people at the crash, during the vigil and in the hospital, ontop of hearing and seeing their reactions. So if your character was present for any events we would love to read how your characters reacted to this from an ooc standpoint. If they went to see their friends in the hospital or caught a glimpse of someone they hardly knew in the morgue. Did they watch the sentencing? Or were they sitting in the Smith Center (that will presumably be packed) with their sorority sisters or fraternity brothers? We would like to piece together everything so when the characters transition back into their lives, so that we're all on the same page.
